Getting Ready for your Boise Elective Rotation

p>The Pediatric WWAMI Medical Student Program will contact you via email approximately 5-6 weeks prior to the start of your elective. There are things you need to do so that you ensure that you will start your rotation on time.

Practice Hours are generally 8 am – 6 pm. Hospital rounds are interspersed with clinic patients throughout the day. After hours or weekend rounds as mutually agreed upon with student. This rotation covers the inpatient infectious disease consult service and outpatient infectious disease and immunology clinic. Grand Rounds are Wednesday morning 8am. Attendance is encouraged weekly, and required for the 3rd Wednesday of the month which is pediatric grand rounds. Case conference every Thursday at noon is required. Student will present at least one interesting case or subject review, including relevant literature presentation, during rotation.

The AAP RedBook is available on hand for reference, along with several textbooks.

Recommended: Berkowitz. Case Studies in Pediatric Infectious Diseases. Available on loan from the clinic.

Focused reading based on patients is regularly expected. There is access to online resources through the hospital.
