The Rural Underserved Opportunities Program (RUOP) is currently recruiting preceptors for the 2025 summer! The RUOP is a four-week clinical and community experience for UW medical students between their first and second years of medical school. This is a chance to engage with enthusiastic students who are invested in learning more about primary care and caring for vulnerable populations. Your role modeling and clinical teaching can shape their professional development over a lifetime!
About the rotation:
- The rotation takes place over 4 consecutive weeks in July or August 2025, based on your availability.
- Along with expanding history-taking and physical exam skills, students are eager to participate in a full range of clinical activities.
- Students spend 30–35 hours a week in the clinic.
- Students also complete a scholarly project on a public health topic while in RUOP. Preceptors are not responsible for engaging in this curriculum that is managed by RUOP faculty.
- Preceptors are welcome to share student precepting responsibilities with colleagues.
- This is an ungraded rotation with no expectation for preceptors to complete formal evaluations or assessments of the student.
