Better Access to Blood Lead Evaluation in Kids (B-ABLE Kids) Clinic Updates

The B-Able Kids clinic is participating in a new learning collaborative to improve lead screening & testing practice in UW clinics. All interested providers and staff are welcome and encouraged to participate. From March to December 2024, we will meet for four sessions to:

  • Review the rationale and guidance for screening & testing
  • Better identify children and populations at higher risk of lead exposure
  • Review strategies to increase testing rates in our practice and track our lead testing data
  • Streamline referral and management of children identified with elevated blood lead levels, including medical workup, environmental assessment, and a referral to birth-to-three services

Four sessions will be held on Thursdays from 12pm to 1 pm (June 13, September 12, and December 12).
The participating UW clinics include Roosevelt, Shoreline, Kent Des Moines, Woodinville, and Harborview. CME/CNE credit and ABP/ABFM/NCCPA MOC Part 4 (awarded Dec 2024) credit are available and will be rewarded in 2024. Attending the quarterly sessions is required for credit.
