Research Leadership Update: CCHBD Center Director and Business Office Changes

From: Ann K. Adams, VP, Research Administration and Dr. Vittorio Gallo, Chief Scientific Officer

Dr. Dimitri Christakis, who has led the Center for Child Health, Behavior and Development (CCHBD) for the past 16 years, will step down from his role as center director, effective immediately. Dr. Tonya Palermo will assume the role of interim center director.

Dimitri is not leaving Children’s. He will continue as a principal investigator with CCHBD, in addition to his new role with Special Olympics International as their chief health officer.

Additionally, Angie Schroeder, center business operations director for CCHBD and the Center for Integrative Brain Research (CIBR) for the past 1.5 years, will temporarily step away from her role to focus on representing the research institute on the Workday implementation project. Angie’s position will be backfilled by Susan Silbernagel who will support both centers, effective immediately. Susan joins us from Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center where she provided administrative leadership for center operations as associate vice president and senior operations director.

Share this update with your teams and let us know if you have any questions. And please, join us in thanking Dimitri and Angie for their service to CCHBD and well wishes in their next chapters, and to Tonya and Susan for their leadership during this time of transition.
