Professional Bio

Dr. Evans is an attending physician at Seattle Children's Hospital and an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Washington School of Medicine. She completed her clinical fellowship in Craniofacial Medicine at Seattle Children's Hospital in 2012. She is dedicated to supporting and teaching medical students, residents and fellows, and as the Director of Craniofacial Educational Programs, she leads the one-of-a-kind Craniofacial Medicine Fellowship.

Dr. Evans's research investigates sleep and breathing in children born with craniofacial conditions, with the goal of improving outcomes in patients with conditions that affect airway function. Her research focuses on children born with micrognathia, glossoptosis and cleft palate, also known as Robin sequence (RS). She actively contributes to an international workgroup developing consensus-based tools to identify and treat neonates with upper airway obstruction. Collectively, this work has impressed upon her the importance of developing collaborative clinical and research partnerships to elevate the care for children with airway obstruction. Motivated by the potential to improve breathing, sleep, feeding and craniofacial growth in infants with micrognathia, Dr. Evans and her colleagues developed an Orthodontic Airway Program (OAP) to better serve patients in our region.

Dr. Evans champions clinical effectiveness and quality improvement initiatives for individuals with cleft lip and palate, and actively contributes to interdisciplinary initiatives improving provision of equitable, timely, and patient-centered care for individuals with tracheostomy dependence.
