Dr. Kinter, is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Washington School of Medicine and a principal investigator with the Center for Child Health, Behavior, and Development at Seattle Children’s Research Institute. Dr. Kinter’s clinical role is as a speech-language pathologist in the Seattle Children’s Craniofacial Center. She has more than 20 years’ experience in the diagnosis and management of speech/resonance disorders in individuals with cleft palate and other craniofacial conditions and consistently presents nationally in this area.

Dr. Kinter earned her PhD in Epidemiology at the University of Washington in 2021. Through the lens of an epidemiologist, her research focuses on advancing our understanding of the intersection between anatomic structure and speech function in individuals with craniofacial differences. She has a specific interest in predicting speech change following surgical intervention and in enhancing patient/caregiver engagement in how this information can be integrated into treatment discussions and decisions, particularly for those undergoing LeFort I maxillary advancement surgery. She also enjoys applying epidemiologic principles to maximize internal validity of studies that leverage large secondary data sets and developing data visualization strategies to enhance the accessibility of her work.
