Professional Bio

Dr. Mersine Bryan completed her bachelor’s degree at Indiana University and her medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She received her pediatric residency training at the University of Washington and Seattle Children’s Hospital. After residency, she practiced as a hospitalist and urgent care physician at Seattle Children’s Hospital. Based on her clinical experience, she became interested in evidence-based medicine, quality improvement and health services research.  Dr. Bryan completed a General Academic Pediatric Fellowship funded by the National Service Research Award (NRSA) and earned her Masters of Public Health in Health Services at the University of Washington. She received the Academic Pediatric Association Young Investigator Award to pursue a project to understand how parents and adolescents access health information online. After completion of her NRSA fellowship, she completed the Health Services and Quality of Care Research Fellowship to further pursue methodologic training. Dr. Bryan is currently an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Hospital Medicine and General Pediatrics at the University of Washington School of Medicine and Seattle Children’s Hospital.  As a junior faculty, she has been supported by the Clinical Research Scholar’s Program in the Center for Clinical and Translational Research at Seattle Children’s Research Institute. Her current research focus is to improve care for hospitalized children through the translation of evidence-based interventions into clinical practice and how to effectively convey high quality information to families across different modalities.
