Dr. Casey Lion Joins the Center for Diversity and Health Equity as Research Director

We are excited to share that Dr. Casey Lion will join the Center for Diversity and Health Equity (CDHE) as research director beginning April 2024. Casey is an associate professor of pediatrics in the divisions of General Pediatrics and Hospital Medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine and an investigator at the Seattle Children’s Research Institute. Casey has a long history of focusing on healthcare equity, language access, patient-provider communication, and healthcare system navigation. Her advocacy and research aim to improve healthcare experiences and outcomes for children and families, with a unique concentration on those who use a language other than English.

Casey will work in partnership with CDHE senior leadership, including us — Alicia Tieder, Dr. Leslie Walker, and Myra Gregorian — alongside Maya Scott, CDHE director, and Dr. Hannibal Person, CDHE medical director. The CDHE research director provides leadership to advance the CDHE mission to identify and eliminate health inequities for children, families, and communities through an inclusive and anti-racist framework. Learn more about Casey’s programs.

Please join us in congratulating Casey.
