Professional Bio

Dr. Eileen J. Klein is an attending physician at Seattle Children's and a professor and associate vice chair for academic affairs in the UW Department of Pediatrics. She also serves as chair of the Promotions Committee for the Department of Pediatrics and co-director of Emergency Department Research at Seattle Children's. Dr. Klein received her MD from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and her MPH in epidemiology from the University of Washington School of Public Health. She completed her residency in pediatrics and fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at the University of Washington.

Dr. Klein provides clinical care in the Emergency Department at Seattle Children’s. Her research interests are in improving care of ill and injured children and the study of vaccine preventable diseases. She is principal investigator (PI) for the Seattle, Texas, Los Angeles Research Node (STELAR) of the HRSA-funded Pediatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network (PECARN), and co-PI for the Seattle site of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)-funded New Vaccine Surveillance Network (NVSN).
