Center for Clinical Genomics (CCG) was established in 2011 to expand the study of human genetics into areas of clinical research. The CCG provides expertise to collect, organize, and prepare collections of banked biological specimens. Partnering with the CCG allows access to experienced technicians, proven scientific protocols, and a full complement of standard laboratory equipment.

Who we serve
We serve clients both inside the University of Washington, as well as outside external academic/nonprofit groups and industry customers.
Services
We have the ability to process samples for on-going collection efforts, run small pilot projects for grant applications, and function as a collection site for national consortium studies. Our center regularly coordinates with research groups to provide DNA extraction and quantification, temporary sample storage, and preparation for genotyping and sequencing services for members of the UW community and to researchers worldwide.
- Assist with experimental design of the genetic component of research studies
- Identify suitable technologies for processing and analyzing of genetic material
- Extract DNA from a variety of starting materials
- Coordinate the delivery of extracted samples to sequencing cores and/or biorepositories
Additional Information
- Our Process
We are happy to meet with groups to discuss possible projects and create custom quotes to fit any budget. Please contact our project management lead Kathryn Shively (ccginfo@uw.edu) for inquiries. Our process will involve:
- Investigator describes their project to a project manager in a free consultation.
- The project manager will return an estimated project budget for approval.
- We work together to establish a timeline of sample collection and processing.
- We store samples for a predetermined length of time.
