A research study co-led by Dr. Kathleen Millen has mapped and described the earliest emergence of neurons in the developing brain, a finding that could help identify key developmental milestones and guide strategies for prevention and treatment of neurological disorders.

Congratulations to Dr. Taylor Hendrixson, who received a two-year award focused on supporting early career investigators to conduct independent HIV research and apply for future funding to continue their HIV/AIDS research careers. 

The study will be the first to evaluate pulmonary function in children surviving acute respiratory failure who can't participate in spirometry.

Many newborn screening protocols miss cases of cystic fibrosis in Black, Hispanic, Asian, and Native American newborns. New guidelines from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, co-authored by Dr. Meghan McGarry, call for uniform screening protocols that can improve diagnosis and treatment for all babies.
