Director, Cystic Fibrosis Center
Overview
The Cystic Fibrosis Center is accredited by the National Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and follows the National Clinical Practice Guidelines for CF Care. We follow a team approach to care and all patients are seen by a dedicated team of pediatric pulmonologists, nurses, dietitians, social workers, and respiratory therapists.
Research Programs
Research is an integral part of the CF Center with studies occurring side by side with clinical practice. In addition to our own CF database, many of our patients are enrolled in the National CF Registry and encouraged to participate in our own research studies as well as those sponsored by the Therapeutics Development Network.
Cystic Fibrosis Therapeutics Development Network Coordinating Center
Founded in 1998 by Dr. Bonnie Ramsey, the Cystic Fibrosis Therapeutics Development Network (TDN) is a national network of CF Care Centers that conduct clinical trials for CF research. The Coordinating Center located here in Seattle provides technical and administrative support for multi-center clinical trials.
Grants from the nonprofit Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Therapeutics, Inc. and the National Institutes of Health provide funding for the TDN. These grants expedite research and development of new therapies for patients afflicted with cystic fibrosis.
Training Programs
All residents and medical students at Seattle Children's have exposure to cystic fibrosis both in the outpatient clinics and inpatient wards.
