Clinical Interests: Quality of care of newborns, including those with congenital, surgical and/or multi‐ complex disorders. Dr. Jacobson pursues multi‐disciplinary, evidence‐based, guideline‐directed, and individualized management for these patients.
Scholarly Focus: Evidence‐based guideline development and quality improvement. Recent areas of focus include facilitating vaccine research in the NICU, multicenter quality improvement initiatives on pneumothorax prevention and improving growth and nutrition, and national collaborative author work on gastroschisis.
Administration/Education Roles: As Quality and Safety Medical Director for Seattle Children’s Neonatology Regional Network, she coordinates multicenter quality improvement projects and facilitates operational efforts towards consistency of care across the regional network of NICUs with a focus on equity. As Site Physician Sponsor for SCH NICU in the Children’s Hospital’s Neonatal Consortium (CHNC), Dr. Jacobson directs the local collection of data for contribution to the Consortium’s database and co‐leads the CHNC’s Gastroschisis Focus Group. She co‐leads local quality improvement work on perioperative hand offs. Dr. Jacobson participates in the clinical training of medical students, residents, fellows, and neonatal PAs.
